Publié le par Computer Q & A

Are you facing some kinds of problem with your computer like it has started working really slow or there are some programs that start automatically in the background? Are you not able to uninstall or install some programs or every now and then the programs crashes with some error message? Does your computer take long to boot up or you face the blue screen of death? If your answer to any of these questions is affirmative then there is a need for you to fix your computer parts. One of the most common reasons to all the problems is that your Windows registry is corrupted. A Windows registry is like the brain of your operating system. It contains all the critical information related to your system's hardware and software. So when you remove some hardware  like  the  skype cordless phones or uninstall software there might be still some data left in the registry. Over a period of time this data gets accumulating increasing the registry size. So when the registry becomes large, the performance of your system degrades that leads to crashes, slow performance etc.

To overcome this problem you can either delete some entries manually using the regedit command. But make sure that you take a backup of the registry file and the data before doing so because even one single bad deletion might lead to entire data loss or even reinstallation of the operating system. You can use the Windows inbuilt File protection system to fix this. All you need to do is put the Windows disk in the drive and then give the command sfc /scannow. It will scan all the protected systems file and will replace them with original if corrupted. Even if this doesn't help you can use some registry scanner softwares to repair it.

Also you must take certain steps to tune your PC. First and foremost, another most common problem that your system might face is virus attack. They can enter your computer either via internet or any removable media so you must install a highly effective antivirus and update it regularly. Too many programs that launch at startup make the booting process slow. So, remove all unnecessary programs using the command msconfig and then selecting the startup tab. Although do not mess around unnecessarily. Next, when you store some data, the data is stored in clusters at different places on your disk. The intermediate space goes waste and gradually the computer becomes slow due to memory shortage. So use the cheap wireless mouse clicking the disk defragmenter that places this data together, freeing a lot of memory.
